An open letter to Canada's Energy Ministers from Canadians for Affordable Energy, the Coalition of Concerned Manufacturers & Businesses of Ontario, and Resource Works Society in advance of the 2018 Energy & Mines Ministers' Meeting on August 12-14 in Nunavut.
August 10, 2018
The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi
Minister of Natural Resources Canada
The Honourable David Akeeagok, M.L.A.
Nunavut Deputy Premier and Minister of Mines
Dear Ministers,
Our organizations believe keeping Canadian energy affordable is important to protecting the pocketbook of families, growing our economy and ensuring our businesses remain competitive. We know that governments across Canada have repeated on numerous occasions their intention to ensure that energy affordability remains an on going public policy priority. This is good news.
You will soon be meeting your federal and provincial counter parts at the 2018 Energy & Mines Ministers’ meeting in Nunavut on August 12 & 13. Ministers are constantly hearing from large corporations and environmental lobby groups. Their agenda is often at odds with Canadian families who are the ones those same special interests expect to pay for their expensive public policy plans.
