Support Nothern Gateway — Sign the Petition to Support Canadian Energy

Canada urgently needs market access for our oil and gas industry. The Northern Gateway pipeline, if revived, would allow Alberta crude to reach tidewater at Kitimat, opening the Pacific Rim market to Canadian energy. This project would create thousands of good-paying jobs, support Indigenous communities, strengthen energy security, and reduce reliance on U.S. markets—all while enabling Canada to compete globally.
Dan McTeague and CAE have long argued that Canada’s energy projects are being held back by outdated policies and regulations. In his analysis, Bill C‑69—the so-called No Pipelines Law—scared off investors and made projects like Northern Gateway nearly impossible to build. If Canada wants to get back in the game, these barriers must be removed and public support must be mobilized.
Even though the project originally won approval in 2014 after exhaustive consultation, it was cancelled in 2016 following a tanker ban and legal rulings on First Nations consultation. But new circumstances—especially trade challenges with the U.S. under President Trump—have revived interest in Northern Gateway as a critical export route for Canadian energy.
Independent analysis estimates nearly $300 billion in economic activity from the project and up to 4,000 construction jobs, with about 1,000 long-term jobs in Indigenous and local communities along the route. Contrary to opposition claims, over 80% of Indigenous bands along the proposed path originally supported the project and anticipated ownership, revenue, and stewardship benefits.
Yet pipeline skeptics painted exaggerated environmental risks. Despite Enbridge’s past incidents—including U.S. pipeline spills—the evidence shows Canada’s overall pipeline safety record remains strong. Still, risks exist. National Energy Board data shows an average of one pipeline rupture per 1,000 km every 16 years. These risks must be managed with modern safety standards—precisely what CAE advocates for, rather than rejecting projects outright.
Today’s energy challenges and the threat of U.S. tariffs make it clear: Canada must regain control of its destiny. Northern Gateway stands as a viable solution for market diversification, energy sovereignty, affordable energy, and economic growth.
What to Do Next
We’re calling on Prime Minister Mark Carney and federal leaders to:
- Scrap Bill C‑69 and restore investor confidence.
- Lift the tanker ban on B.C.’s north coast under tight safety regulations.
- Re-open Indigenous consultation—especially with bands that initially supported the project.
- Approve and build Northern Gateway as a national priority.
Sign the petition below to support these actions and demand that Canada resume building pipelines that serve Canadians—not foreign regulators or activist agendas.
Sign the petition now to revive Northern Gateway and reclaim Canada’s energy future.
Every signature matters. Together, we can restore energy infrastructure, unlock resources, and secure jobs for Canadians.
Why This Matters
Canada is missing out on global markets because of restrictive policies and fragmented pipeline strategy. While other nations expand energy infrastructure, we’ve canceled projects—not because they failed, but because of politics and over-regulation.
Reviving Northern Gateway could send a clear message: Canada is open for investment, and energy development can proceed in a safe, accountable, and economically responsible manner.
Dan McTeague and CAE are committed to making affordable energy a Canadian reality. This petition is a tangible step toward breaking the pipeline logjam and delivering on Canada’s energy promise.
