WATCH: Canada’s EV mandate isn’t gone…Carney’s just repackaged it
| By Natalia BankertMark Carney just announced that he’s repealing Canada’s electric vehicle sales mandate, which would require 100% of all vehicles sold by 2035 to be zero emission.
At first glance, it sounds like a major shift, right? It sounds like Ottawa might be finally acknowledging the fact that the EV mandate was completely unrealistic.
But here’s the truth: Carney didn’t actually end the EV mandate. He just replaced it with something that creates many of the same problems — and in some ways, this might actually be worse.
