Stop the Ban on Natural Gas in Our Communities

Some cities want to take away your choice of affordable energy.
They’re planning to ban natural gas in new homes and buildings—no more gas-powered heating, hot water systems, or even stoves. But in reality, these bans just drive up costs and restrict your options.
Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, says:
“Banning natural gas hurts people. It makes energy more costly and less reliable.”
Here’s what they’re not telling you:
Natural gas is affordable. Replacing it with electric systems like heat pumps costs more — a lot more — especially for families and small businesses.
Our power grid isn’t ready. A sudden switch to electric heating will put massive pressure on the system, leading to blackouts and even higher costs.
There are health concerns — but they’re overblown. Claims about gas stoves and indoor air ignore real-world data and existing safety standards.
We all want to protect the environment — but banning natural gas is not the way. These bans will hurt low-income Canadians the most, and they do little to reduce global emissions.
