Tell Carney: Stop Letting Climate Ideology Kill Canada’s Energy Future
Last week, Prime Minister Carney announced a new pipeline deal with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. It sounded like good news.
Look closer.
The devil is in the details: the tanker ban stays, locking out Canada’s most direct route to Asian markets. And tied to the pipeline itself is a commitment to advance a massive carbon capture project — meaning Alberta’s oil industry must decarbonize as a condition of getting its own energy to market.
If a pipeline gets built, it will be a pipeline with a green leash attached.
This is the same pattern Canadians have seen for a decade. Radical environmentalists are being prioritized over Canada’s energy industry.
Canada is in an economic fight. We need to sell our energy to the world. Slapping an industrial carbon tax and net-zero strings onto a nation-building pipeline project isn’t leadership. It’s the same radical climate ideology we’ve seen before.
Alberta’s workers deserve better. Canadian families deserve better.
