Ottawa must act. Winter is coming.
Tell Carney to scrap every federal tax on fuel — for good.
Canadians are turning on their furnaces. The bill is about to follow.
Diesel is at record highs. Heating oil follows diesel. So does propane. So does the price of everything that arrives by truck — which is everything on a grocery shelf. If you heat with gas, you’re not spared: the taxes on your bill are the same ones.
Ottawa didn’t cause the war in the Gulf. Ottawa did cause this:
- The Clean Fuel Standard adds 19¢ to every litre of diesel. A federal regulation, imposed on purpose, that makes it more expensive to move food and heat homes.
- The federal excise tax — 10¢ on gas, 4¢ on diesel — comes back January 31. The government “paused” it when prices spiked. That’s not relief. That’s a tax with a snooze button.
- HST is a percentage. Every time the price goes up, Ottawa’s cut goes up with it. Record prices mean record revenue. The government is profiting from your pain.
Prime Minister Carney says the price of fuel is out of his hands. The taxes on it aren’t. He could remove every one of them tomorrow. He’s chosen not to.
Canadians shouldn’t have to choose between heating their homes and feeding their families while Ottawa collects more from both.
Tell Carney: scrap every federal tax on fuel. Not paused. Not delayed. Gone.
